Marcia Ward, Ph.D.
President, Resources for Healthy Living, Inc.

Marcia Ward I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University in 1999 and was licensed to practice psychotherapy independently in Ohio in 2001. I specialize in treating adults in individual and couples psychotherapy. I also have a special interest in geriatric psychology and am contracted to provide psychological services to residents in numerous long term care facilities in Northwestern Ohio. I have experience working with individuals with chronic physical illness and pain and understand the intertwined relationship between emotional and physical health. Another area of interest for me clinically is working with injured workers who have developed psychological problems as a result of their work injury.
I believe that psychotherapy is an opportunity to examine aspects of one's life and make changes that lead to greater satisfaction overall. I believe that it is a brave person who enters the psychotherapy process. I believe that psychotherapy can have significant healing effects on peoples' lives. I believe that emotional health contributes significantly to physical health. My approach to psychotherapy can best be described as Eclectic, combining aspects of Existential, Interpersonal, Psychodynamic and Gestalt theories in my work. I am a provider on many insurance panels. I am also happy to work with people who want to pay for their psychotherapy themselves.
I am privileged to be on the medical staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. I am a member of The American Psychological Association, Ohio Psychological Association, Toledo Area Academy of Professional Psychologists, Academy of Pain Practitioners, and Psychologists in Long Term Care. I am currently the President of the Board of Trustees for The Zepf Center, a community mental health center serving the psychological, psychiatric and physical health needs of low income children and adults living in Lucas County.
My husband and I are raising our two children together. I enjoy gardening, reading, meditating, practicing yoga, sailing, snowshoeing, and playing board and card games with my family when I am not at work. I believe that music is a necessary part of daily life and aides in emotional growth and well-being.
